Advent, Day 17 – Betrayed

The traitor, Judas, had given them a prearranged signal: “You will know which one to arrest when I greet him with a kiss.” So Judas came straight to Jesus. “Greetings, Rabbi!” he exclaimed and gave him the kiss. Jesus said, “My friend, go ahead and do what you have come for.” (Matthew 26:48-50)

Jesus knew what was to happen to Him, he knew that pain and separation from His Father was on the horizon, yet He didn’t run from His responsibility. From the moment of Jesus’s birth the Divine redemptive plan was nearing it’s end.

I know people, who once professed a deep love for Christ and were an example of an intimate relationship with Him, who have walked away from all of that. Various reasons can make this come about: Hurt and offence from other Christians, influences who’s sole desire is to draw people away from Him, or simply, apathy for the cause.

I pray that this Christmas those who are lost will find Him again and they discover He never left them and that His joy is overflowing towards them and His arms are open wide.
